The MELCHOR Program (Mobilizing, Environmental Management, Livelihood, Capacity Building, Health and Sanitation, Outreach Program for Responsible Nation-building) is the flagship Community Extension Service of Naga College Foundation, Inc., aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Adopting the Service-Learning Framework, the program integrates community service with academic instruction and reflection, enabling students to apply their knowledge while addressing real community needs. Through initiatives in environmental management, livelihood support, health promotion, and capacity building, the MELCHOR Program fosters sustainable change, civic responsibility, and active collaboration between the college and its partner communities.
The NCF Service-Learning Framework follows a cyclical five-stage process—Assessment, Planning, Action, Reflection, and Demonstration—designed to ensure that service-learning initiatives are purposeful, academically grounded, and responsive to community needs. Each stage provides clear, step-by-step guidelines that promote meaningful engagement between students, faculty, and partner communities. Through this structured approach, participants not only deliver relevant services but also integrate academic learning with real-world application, fostering civic responsibility, critical thinking, and sustainable impact.
